Goodbye to All That
The body of work “Goodbye to All That” features eleven paintings and an interactive sculpture-platform. The exhibition explores themes of transformation and societal decay through a cross-shaped installation of pantings representing the elements of fire, air, and earth, with the element of water activated by the visitor by walking through the main entrance into the space. The installation of the works in the formation of a cross acts as a reinterpretation of the Tree of Life.
The paintings derived from the "Pyramid of Capitalist System" (1911), reimagining its structure in dialogue with historically religious storytelling, including references to Giotto’s frescoes and the commodification of contemporary culture. They reflect on modern disillusionment driven by societal shifts that prioritize consumerism and status over humility and communal solidarity. Accompanied by W.B. Yeats's poem "The Second Coming", the works meditate on the cyclical nature of history and the potential for renewal amidst societal decline.
